Oppressed and haunted by acts of the past, the young master Zhou Ping yearns to leave his home. But when Si Feng appears, she brings a renewed sense of hope into his life. His efforts to become a better person soon fail as dark secrets come to light, culminating in a stormy night that finds Zhou Ping with a gun in his hand and self-destruction on his mind.
The Thunderstorm is a gripping human drama adapted for the Huangmei Opera stage. With stellar performances, classical set designs and melodious Huangmei opera singing, Thunderstorm is an elegant and lyrical take on Cao Yu’s literary classic. Plum Blossom Award winner Jiang Jian Guo portrays the ill-fated protagonist Zhou Ping in an intense and moving performance. Joining him on stage are fellow winners Huang Xin De and Wu Ya Ling.
